Introduction:
Nathalie Delon was born as Francine Canovas on 1 st August 1941 in Morocco, then under the French protectorate, in a family of Spanish origin. She is the daughter of Louis Canovas (1915-2003), Blackfoot from Oran (Algeria), manager of a transport company in Morocco, who abandons her at the age of eight months in 1942. Her mother is from Melilla. Francine Canovas married for the first time a conscript from the contingent from the North of France, Guy Barthélémy, who later became authorized representative of the Omnium Marocain assurance. They have a little girl named Nathalie: this first name will then be part of her mother’s stage name. They divorce soon after.
Early Life:
On 13 August 1964, Nathalie married the actor Alain Delon, with whom she was expecting a child, in the Loir-et-Cher. At 21, she had met him at a nightclub with his fiancée, actress Romy Schneider. The actor, at the height of his career at 29, was under media scrutiny following his tumultuous engagement with Schneider.
After their marriage, Nathalie and Alain Delon embark aboard the liner France in Le Havre for a honeymoon trip to the United States. They then go directly to Hollywood because Alain Delon had a contract with Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, but it is broken by the American company. Their son Anthony was born the following month at Cedar Sinai hospital in Los Angeles. The Delons live in the United States for a year before returning to Paris.
In 1967, Nathalie Delon became a film actress thanks to her husband in the very successful film Le Samouraï by Jean-Pierre Melville. February 14, 1969, she divorces after four and a half years of marriage, when Alain Delon binds with Mireille Darc on the set of Jean Herman’s film Jeff.
Screen Appearance:
Nathalie appears in more than 30 movies from 1967 tel 2009. Starting LE SAMOURAÏ (1967), ALAIN DELON IN ONE OF HIS BIGGEST ROLES. – In 1967, Jean-Pierre Melville signed a work to be placed at the top of French films noir, Tender Moment (1968), Army of Shadows (1969), The Sisters (1969), Easy Down There!
