Introduction:
Erin Moran Born on October 18, 1960, in Burbank, California, she was an American actress raised in nearby Los Angeles in the North Hollywood district. She was the second youngest of six children born to Sharon and Edward Moran. Her father was a finance manager, and her interest in acting was supported by her mother, who signed her with a talent agent when she was 5 years old. Two of her brothers are also actors, John Moran and Tony Moran, the latter of whom played the unmasked Michael Myers in the movie Halloween (1978).
Early Life:
She attended Walter Reed Junior High School for one year and North Hollywood High School for another year. Her first professional acting job was in a TV commercial. She played Richie Cunningham’s baby sister, Joanie Cunningham, on ABC’s Happy Days (1974), however, this was not Erin’s first major TV series. She was a regular on the series, Daktari (1966).
Moran Appearances:
Erin Moran has worked on feature films with Debbie Reynolds in How Sweet It Is! (1968), with Godfrey Cambridge in Watermelon Man (1970), and with Wayne Newton in 80 Steps to Jonah (1969) also she starred opposite Edward Albert in the cult sci-fi horror film Galaxy of Terror (1981). She made occasional guest appearances on scripted and reality shows. She eventually moved away from Hollywood after her home was foreclosed on. In 2008, she was a contestant on VH1’s reality show Celebrity Fit Club, two years later, she made an appearance in the independent comedy feature Not Another B Movie (2010). In 2013, despite reports that she would be reunited with Happy Days co-stars Henry Winkler, Ron Howard, and Scott Baio in the fourth season of Arrested Development, she did not appear in the revamped Netflix series
What Happened:
After Happy Days and Joanie Loves Chachi was canceled, Moran moved from Los Angeles to the California mountains. Moran died on April 22, 2017, at her mother-in-law’s trailer in New Salisbury, Indiana where she had been living with her husband for 23 years. She suffers from complications of Squamous cell carcinoma (rare skin cancer) found in the throat at the age of 56.
