Introduction:
Dagmar Lassander was born in Prague in 1943, in the protectorate of Bohemia-Moravia under the Third Reich, of a German-Chilean mother and a French father. She started out as a costume designer at the Berlin Opera House and then studied acting in the same city under the direction of Claus Holm. She is noticed by Will Tremper who gives her first small role at 23 in Forbidden Quarter. After other small roles, she got her first leading role at 25 in the erotic film from Liechtenstein Andrea by Hans Schott-Schöbinge.
Early life:
With the psychedelic Giallo Le Duo de la mort, she made a foray into Italian cinema which she later confirmed with An Ax for the Honeymoon by Mario Bava. Her experience during the shoot was, according to her, unpleasant: the producers demanded that she lose 10 kg for the role; script revisions gradually reduced her character’s prominence in the film in favor of Italian star Laura Betti, who Lassender said was odious to her on set. At the time, Lassander only mastered his mother tongue German and spoke relatively little English and no Italian at all, which made communicating with Bava difficult. After the film, Lassender won a lawsuit against producer Manuel Caño who had promised her the lead female role.
Screen Appearance:
During her career, she played about 66 roles on both the screen and television, some of her best movies:
Devil Fish (1984), Hatchet for the Honeymoon (1970) and I racconti fantastici di Edgar Allan Poe (1979). Reflections in Black (1975), Stated that The Laughing Woman (1969) was her personal favorite among the films she had done. Some other movies are THE CONSIGLIORI (1973), SKIN ON SKIN(1972), THE FORBIDDEN PHOTOS OF A LADY FOR GOOD (1971), Family affairs (1989), Topo Galileo (1987), The family (1986), The pleasure (1985), Crime in Formula One (1983), Eye Evil Eye Parsley and Fennel (1983), Black Cat (1981), Two little Italians (2018), Nevermind (2018) and Tommaso (2016).
What Happened:
So far, we have been able to see Dagmar Lassander as a teacher in the German television series ALLES GLÜCK DIESER ERDE (1994). From that moment on, maybe, for now, Dagmar also disappeared from the television screens. Today, Dagmar is not artistically active and almost no information is known about her privacy. We notice that
she took a hiatus from acting for almost twenty years until she was lured back by Kim Rossi Stuart for a substantial supporting role in Tommaso (2016).
