The title does not do justice to the movies in the list. The films are ones that stretch what is acceptable in movies – this could be in terms of relationships or just what the movie shows us. The films listed would have either one of the three criteria in the title. When making a list for sincere relationships, I came across another interesting film subject: films with relationships that are out of the ordinary.
Incest movies are very uncommon but like violence, incest is a theme that could either be explored or exploited by the filmmakers depending on their intentions. Films about incestuous relationships between mother and son, father and daughter, brother and sister have often been accused of being emotionally exploitative and mindlessly provocative and to a certain extent those accusations have been true.
But there have also been movies that explore the emotional core of incestuous relationships and they aren’t a lot in number.
