Egypt has given birth to some great movie actors and actresses over the years, many of who have gone on to star in comedies, dramas, horror movies, and more. These are some of the best Egyptian screen actors in the history of the world, so if you’re a native of Egypt and an aspiring actor/actress then these are people you should look up to. These are my best 10 actresses from Egypt of all time.

10. Hind Rostom (1931-2011)

Hind Rostom was one of the most popular Egyptian actresses. Actress Hind Rostom is a star from the golden era of Egyptian cinema. With her blond hair and good looks, Rostom often played the sultry seductress, and she quickly rose to become one of Egypt’s best-known actresses. She won popular acclaim for her 1958 film “Cairo Station,” about the city’s underclass and their struggles to survive. She starred in it with Youssef Chahine, one of Egypt’s most lauded movie directors.

9. Mariam Fakhr Eddine (1933-2014)

Mariam Fakhr El Dine was born in 1931 to an Egyptian father and a Hungarian mother. She is the sister of actor Youssef Fakhr El Dine. When she was fourteen, her parents separated and her mother moved to Austria. In 1950, his photo appeared on the cover of the French-language magazine Image and attracted the attention of the cinema community. She died at 83, in November 2014, in a Cairo hospital

8. Nadia Lutfi (1937-2020)

Lutfi was born Paula Mohamed Mostafa Shafiq to an Egyptian father and a Polish mother. Her stage name was inspired by the name of a character, played by late actress Faten Hamama, in the 1957 movie “La Anam.” Lutfi made her silver screen debut in 1958 at the age of 24. She starred in the movie “Sultan” alongside renowned late actors Fareed Shawqi and Roshdi Abaza. She was most famous for her roles in “Al-Nadara Al-Sawdaa,” “Al-Khataya” and “Aby Fouq Al-Shajara.”

Fatma Ahmed Kamal Shaker, better known by her stage name Shadia born on 8 February 1931 and 28 November 2017, was an Egyptian actress and singer. She was famous for her roles in light comedies and drama in the 1950s and 1960s. She is one of the iconic actresses and singers in Egypt and the Middle East region and a symbol of the golden age of Egyptian cinema and is known for her many patriotic songs. Her movies and songs are popular in Egypt and all the Arab World. Critics consider her the most successful comprehensive Egyptian and Arabic artist of all time.

Yousra is an Egyptian actress and singer. She is considered a glamorous icon for the Middle East and is an influential voice in the region. 5. Zubaida Tharwat (1940-2016)

Zubaida Tharwat was born in Alexandria in 1940. Her father, Ahmed Tharwat, is a naval officer. His mother, Princess Zubaida Hussein Kamel, is the granddaughter of Hussein Kamel, Sultan of Egypt during World War I and second son of Ismail Pasha. This family is of Adyguean origin (still referred to as Circassian ). The Adygeya, built originally for Mamelukes, are deeply rooted in the ruling Egyptian elite, until the middle of the 20th century, and in the history of the country.

4. Mona Zaki (1976)

Mona Zaki was born to her parents Ali Mohamed Zaki and Tahani on November 18, 1976. Until the age of 13, Zaki lived in Kuwait. At the age of 16 and after seeing an advertisement by Mohamed Sobhi for new faces, she applied merely in hope of getting a chance to meet the famous Egyptian actor and director. Zaki was cast by Sobhi and had her first acting role in his play Bel Araby El Faseeh. When it was time for Mona to go to university, she enrolled in the Faculty of Mass Communication, Cairo University.

Nelly Karim is an Egyptian actress, fashion model, and ballerina. She was born December 18, 1974, in Alexandria, Egypt to An Egyptian father and Russian mother. Nelly Karim has drawn attention for her 2006 refusal to portray “seductive roles”. She won the Best Actress award in the Cairo International Film Festival in 2004 for her role in Enta Omry. She also won Jury Grand Prize at the Asia Pacific Screen Awards for her role in 678 and Best Actress at the Arab Film Festival in 2012 for 678. Nelly Karim has four children, the last of which was born in 2011.

2. Faten Hamama (1931-2015)

Daughter of a math teacher, she shot her first film at the age of seven and went on to perform roles for nearly half a century. Very young, she married, against the advice of her parents because of the age difference, the specialist in melodrama, the Egyptian director Ezzedine Zulficar born in 1919, with whom she has a daughter, Nadia. In 1954, already a very big star, she played in Ciel d’enfer by Egyptian director Youssef Chahine. The film, presented at the 1954 Cannes Film Festival, will be part of the selection of the 150 best Egyptian productions, during the centenary of Egyptian cinema, in 1996

Souad Muhammad Kamal Hosny Al Baba was born on January 26th, 1942 in Ataba, Cairo, Egypt. She was the 10th sibling of 17 brothers and sisters. Husni was known as the “Cinderella” of Arab cinema and one of the most influential actresses in the Arabic art world. She ascended to stardom at the end of the 1950s, performing in more than 83 films between 1959 and 1991. A majority of her films were shot in the 1960s and 1970s. Souad was nicknamed the “Cinderella” of Arab Cinema and was one of the most influential female icons in the Arab Acting World. She first ascended into stardom in the late 1940s with her debut in “Hassan & Naima,” which was the Arabic version of Romeo and Juliet.
