Comedians often find themselves in hot water. It’s a hazard of the job that requires them to find the line and, often, cross it. The biggest stories are often legendary tales of George Carlin getting hauled off at Milwaukee’s Summerfest in 1972 for doing his “Seven Words You Can’t Say On Television” bit or Lenny Bruce doing a set in the 1960s while police waited with handcuffs ready for him to say an offensive word (never took long). More recently, comics like Dave Chappelle and Kevin Hart have been catching heat for material in stand-up specials, but it appears like that era of cancellation for content may be waning.
