Steven Spielberg Opens Up About Almost Directing 'Interstellar' Before Christopher Nolan

Big studio movies rarely start out in exactly the form audiences eventually see. Even some of the most seemingly director-driven hits spend years being tweaked and evolving behind the scenes, passing through different studios, different drafts, and sometimes very different filmmakers before cameras ever roll. We’re now learning that this was the case with Interstellar, which is now firmly associated with Christopher Nolan, but nearly ended up as a Steven Spielberg film instead.
