Say Goodbye to The Greatest Pirate Series of the 21st Century

The Johnny Depp-led Pirates of the Caribbean film series remains the gold standard for pirate-centric stories on the big screen. The hit Disney film franchise has spawned five feature-length films, and even though the lead actor’s controversies have caused problems, a sixth is in development with a different cast. But for fans of the genre, the true winner is the underrated 2014 Starz series, Black Sails. The adventure epic series ran for four seasons, taking viewers on an expansive journey with fictionalized versions of some of history’s most well-known pirates.
