Introduction:
Prunella Mary Gee born on 17 February 1950 is an English counselor, therapist, and former actress, best known for her work as an actress in the 1970s and 1980s, and for the role of Doreen Heavey in Coronation Street, a part she first played in 1999. Doreen appeared in 17 episodes before returning as a permanent character in 2002 and 2003. She came back the following year for three episodes, proving to be Gee’s final television role.
Early Life:
The daughter of a businessman living in Rutland, Gee was privately educated at Benenden School, where she was in the year below Princess Anne.
Wanting to become an actress, she studied at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art, where she won the Spotlight Award for Best Actress in 1972; she then spent six months in repertory playing Priestley, Shaw, Shakespeare, Feydeau, and Orton.

The glamorous Prunella Gee was trained at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art. She appeared in her first television series, Shabby Tiger (1973), which gave her instant notoriety due to her nude scenes. She became a virtual staple of British television thereafter and was chosen to guest star in single episodes of The Sweeney (1974), Return of the Saint (1978), Hammer House of Horror (1980), and The Professionals (1977).
Prunella’s impressive list of film credits includes The Wilby Conspiracy (1975) with Sidney Poitier and Michael Caine, the James Bond adventure Never Say Never Again (1983) with Sean Connery, and Stormy Monday (1988), in which she played Sting’s wife.
On stage:
On stage, she has played all three women in ‘The Last of the Red Hot Lovers’, the blind Sheila in ‘Wait Until Dark, the double role of Alice in ‘Double Take’ and Romaine in ‘Witness for the Prosecution’.In 1998, Prunella went to Los Angeles to make Merchants of Venus (1998), in which she starred with Michael York, Beverly D’Angelo, and Brian Cox. One year later she appeared as Doreen Heavey for a five-month stint in the long-running British soap opera Coronation Street (1960).
What Happened:
Since giving up acting in 2004, Prunella has worked as a counselor and therapist in Camden, London. In 2011, she agreed to appear in the short film Trimming Pablo (2013), a one-off return to the acting field.
