“You don’t walk away from 30 mins of footage, especially when the star is the director!” Asymmetry Films has released the first official trailer for a documentary film titled Broken Rhythm: Bruce Lee’s Game of Death, a look back at the making of Bruce Lee’s last film. This premieres soon at the NYC Independent Film Festival if anyone is interested in catching it. Taking us back in time, the doc examines Bruce Lee’s making of Game of Death, focusing on the 1972-era Game of Death footage and 23 minutes that Bruce Lee filmed before his passing. “The 1978 release – premiering five years after Lee’s death – contained only a fraction of what he filmed in 1972. Producer André Morgan, involved in both versions, guides us through the complex timeline behind the film’s completion, shedding light on the creative, financial, and logistical compromises that reshaped Lee’s original vision.” Featuring tons of interviews with many people involved in the production, offering “fresh perspectives on his artistic intent.” The whole film will “recontextualize Lee’s legacy while exploring how his work grapples with enduring existential questions of life, death, identity, and the pursuit of artistic immortality.” Sounds & looks interesting enough, I’m curious to see.
