Mary-Louise Parker: great in Red 2

Mary-Louise Parker (born August 2, 1964) is an American actress, best known for her lead role on Showtime’s television series Weeds portraying Nancy Botwin, for which she has received several nominations and the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in 2006. Parker has appeared in films and series such as RED, RED 2, Fried Green Tomatoes, Boys on the Side, The West Wing, and Angels in America, for which she received a Golden Globe and an Emmy Award for Best Supporting Actress. Parker is also the recipient of the 2001 Tony Award for Best Actress for the Broadway play Proof.

While not your typical hot Hollywood babe, Mary-Louise’s sex appeal stems from her intelligence and feminine poise. She’s quite sexy for a woman hovering around the 40 mark, and we wonder if the fact that she’s part Swedish means that she’s less inhibited than the stereotypical American middle-aged woman. Mary-Louise Parker has appeared in over three dozen big-screen movies, made-for-TV films and stage plays since she began working professionally in the late 1980s. She was cited as one of 12 “Promising New Actors of 1990” in John Willis’ Screen World, and won the Clarence Derwent Award and Theatre World Award for her stage work in Prelude to a Kiss that same year. She also picked up her first Tony nomination for the role.

Few (living) actors can claim to have been the inspiration for a song, but you can count Mary-Louise among the tiny group that do.
