HBO's 4-Part Sci-Fi Fully Switches Genre Halfway Through, And Never Recovers

It takes constant evolution to make any TV series last for multiple seasons, but very few shows would be so daring as to completely switch genres halfway through. We’ve seen TV shows shift genres gradually over the span of several years, with the likes of BoJack Horseman and Buffy the Vampire Slayer steadily growing in darkness and severity. We’ve also seen spinoffs opting to tackle genres their original shows never touched, such as the more intense Baywatch Nights and the comedy stylings of Star Trek: Lower Decks.
