“We’re all doing our best here, sir.” IFC has debuted the main official trailer for a super wacky dumb new stoner comedy movie titled Idiots, hitting theaters at the end of August this summer. It’s wild! Described as a “raucous and wildly entertaining descent into madness,” this first premiered at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival under the dangerous title The Sh&theads, though has now been adjusted to the more tamer Idiots. Which is also very much an accurate description of these characters! Two unqualified bozos (starring Dave Franco & O’Shea Jackson Jr.) are hired to transfer a spoiled, rich teen named Sheridan to rehab, when their straightforward gig quickly spirals into dangerous mayhem. Along with Franco & Jackson, it also stars Mason Thames (from The Black Phone and How to Train Your Dragon) as Sheridan, Kiernan Shipka, Nicholas Braun, and Peter Dinklage. Sundance pumps it up: “Blair treats us to his signature absurdist sense of humor and douses it with gasoline and psychedelics, crafting an uncanny world where the worst intentions net the highest yields.” Definitely not for everyone – it’s so dumb it’ll piss off some viewers.
