Coming Soon : KRAMPUS
Legendary Pictures’ “Krampus,” a darkly festive tale of a yuletide ghoul, reveals an irreverently twisted side to the holiday. When his dysfunctional family clashes over the holidays, young Max (Emjay Anthony) is disillusioned and turns his back on Christmas. Little does he know, this lack of festive spirit has unleashed the wrath of Krampus: a demonic force of ancient evil intent on punishing non-believers.All hell breaks loose as beloved holiday icons take on a monstrous life of their own, laying siege to the fractured family’s home and forcing them to fight for each other if they hope to survive.
Christmas and horror go together like peanut butter and pickles — unexpectedly perfectly! And yet, it’s been a little while since we’ve had a classic holiday horror movie to scare our stockings off. Into this gap steps Michael Dougherty’s Krampus, a long-overdue horror adaptation of the Germanic folklore villain of the same name. (If you’re unfamiliar with Krampus, he’s an evil demon who comes around every December 5 — Krampusnacht — to terrorize naughty children.) Despite the presence of Adam Scott and David Koechner in the film’s cast, we’re at least 95 percent sure this isn’t a genre spoof; we’ll know for sure once the film’s American trailer is released.
The film is directed by Michael Dougherty, who also directed the 2007 movie Trick ‘r Treat. It is co-written by Todd Casey and Zach Shields. The producers of the film are Thomas Tull, Jon Jashni and Alex Garcia of Legendary Pictures. The film originally was scheduled to be released on November 25, 2015, but the release was later pushed back to December 4, 2015. DreadCentral.com reported that Krampus will have similar directorial style as Trick ‘r Treat, but this film will have a Christmas theme. On November 21, 2014, Allison Tolman and Emjay Anthony joined the cast. On March 3, 2015, Adam Scott, David Koechner and Toni Collette joined the cast.
Principal photography on the film began on March 12, 2015, as announced by Legendary Pictures
