Behind the eyes: Ari Graynor!

Ariel Geltman Graynor, better known as Ari Graynor (born April 27, 1983), is an American actress, known for her roles in TV series such as The Sopranos and Fringe, in stage productions such as Brooklyn Boy and The Little Dog Laughed, and in films such as Whip It and For a Good Time.Ari Graynor is a scene-stealing supporting actress best known for her role as Kat Dennings’ drunken friend in Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist. Her profile should receive a huge boost over the summer thanks to a pair of starring roles in the eagerly anticipated big screen comedies Youth in Revolt and Drew Barrymore’s directorial debut, Whip It!.

Ari Graynor wasn’t always the buxom blonde beauty she appears to be today. “I grew up and was made fun of really badly for being fat, so I think there’s a little bit of fat girl syndrome in there,” she admits. “When you’re in middle school and not the cute girl, you’ve got to get your funny chops in order.” And it’s a good thing she did, because now she’s not only drop-dead funny, but she’s also beautiful to boot. Sadly, Ari Graynor’s sexiness is something of a moot point, as this sassy 25-year-old is currently shacked up with American Pie’s Eddie Kaye Thomas, whom she met when they appeared in the off-Broadway hit, Dog Sees God. On the positive side, if “Shitbreak” can land a hottie like her, there’s no telling what you can accomplish.

Ari Graynor has no issues with sharing the limelight. “There is something to be said about supporting characters,” she posits. “If you’re lucky, they get to just be these incredibly outrageous people.” That’s certainly been the case thus far in her career as evidenced by her memorable roles in films like Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist. This busty Boston native has also shown off her impressive range in more than 20 other films and television productions including Mystic River, Imaginary Heroes, For Your Consideration, and An American Crime. Graynor was born in Boston, Massachusetts, the daughter of Joani Geltman, a parenting expert, and Greg Graynor, a contractor. Her mother is from a Jewish family and her father is of Polish Catholic background; Graynor was raised Jewish. She attended Buckingham Browne & Nichols, a private school in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and Trinity College, in Hartford, Connecticut.
