Backrooms, the new horror movie about a furniture store owner (Chiwetel Ejiofor) who discovers a maze-like network of rooms and hallways on the other side of his basement wall, was a hit the moment it landed in theaters in late May. Now we’re finding out just how big a hit it is. According to Variety, the movie has earned $212 million globally, including $135 million from North America alone. That makes it the highest-grossing movie ever released by A24, the beloved indie studio behind Best Picture winners like Moonlight and Everything, Everywhere All At Once.
