'Avatar: Fire and Ash' Climbs Past Chris Hemsworth's Disappointing MCU Movie at the Box Office

Another weekend of the January 2026 box office has passed, and the same title sits atop the tree. James Cameron‘s Avatar: Fire and Ash might look destined to fall short of its two predecessors, but that hasn’t stopped it from demolishing its theatrical competition and finishing first in the domestic ranks for four weeks in a row. This past weekend, the film added another $21.5 million to its domestic total, which has now increased to $344.4 million, which, added to a hugely impressive overseas record, takes the film’s global total to $1.232 billion at the time of writing.
