11 Biggest Classic Star Trek Character Promotions in the Modern Era

Various officers climbing the Starfleet ranks is one of the most pervasive subplots that holds the Star Trek canon together, and the franchise’s modern era doesn’t forget to continue the professional lives of some of the space opera’s most beloved characters. Of the officers introduced between The Original Series and Enterprise, several have returned in Star Trek projects that have premiered since Discovery began the current era in 2017. Although some of these promotions were pretty much always going to happen, others have been more of a pleasant surprise for me as I’ve engaged with Star Trek over the last decade.
